Village 2017 Springwatch – Calling All Twitchers @ Tylers Green Village Hall
May 14 @ 7:00 am – 9:00 am

This spring we are organising our very own Village Springwatch.

We want your help to record the birds you see and hear. There are two parts to the plan – first the ‘official’ census of the species of birds on the Back Common and second the record of birds seen in the gardens of Penn & Tylers Green residents.

Spring birds on Back Common
You are very welcome to join a group on three Sunday mornings from 07:00 to 09:00 to carry out the ‘official’ census. The dates are April 16th, May 14th and June 11th. We will start from the Tylers Green Village Hall and, under the leadership of Bill Sadler and two other experts, we will follow the tracks and paths around Back Common and keep notes on what we find. The results will be recorded and used to update an information board in the Village Hall. You don’t need to be an expert at identifying birds to join us, but you may need to set your alarm clock!

Charity Musical Masquerade Gala Dinner @ Penn House
May 20 @ 7:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Rennie Grove Hospice Care is delighted to bring a brand new event to its fundraising calendar for 2017.  Thanks to long-standing supporter, The Right Hon. The Countess Howe, the charity is hosting a Musical Masquerade Gala Dinner in an opulent marquee at Penn House near Amersham on Saturday 20 May from 7pm.

The spectacular evening of entertainment features a fabulous and eclectic mix of songs from professional opera, musical theatre and the semi-classical genre with sprinklings of contemporary and jazz music.  Alongside a champagne reception and elegant three course dinner, the evening promises a West End experience with a hint of Venetian mystery right on your doorstep!

Guests will be entertained by a well-established quartet with impressive solo singing careers spanning opera, musical theatre, concerts and recording.  Mandy Watsham Dunstall played Carlotta at Her Majesty’s Theatre in The Phantom Of The Opera, The Queen of The Night in The Magic Flute and covered Rapunzel and both Stepsisters in Into The Woods at The Royal Opera House.  Maria Kesselman played the role of Christine opposite Michael Crawford in The Phantom Of The Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre and has given solo performances at The Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall and on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night.  Ben Thapa studied at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is best known for being the low tenor in the group G4 along with Jonathan Ansell, Matt Stiff and Mike Christie. The group released three hugely successful albums with Sony BMG.  Lincoln Stone has been principal tenor for Carl Rosa Opera including playing Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, Ralph Rackstraw in HMS Pinafore and Nanki-Poo in The Mikado. He studied at The National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney Australia.

All funds raised will go towards Rennie Grove’s unique service providing 24/7 hospice care in patients’ homes.  Take advantage of the early bird discount and secure your table of 10 for £850 before 31 March.  From 1 April onwards tickets cost £95 each with tables of 10 available at £950.
if you would like to arrange a table or buy tickets please phone Rennie Grove Hospice Care on 01442 820715 or specialevents -at- renniegrove -dot- org
