We are organising our very own Village Birdwatch.
We want your help to record the birds you see and hear. There are two parts to the plan – first the ‘official’ census of the species of birds on the Back Common and second the record of birds seen in the gardens of Penn & Tylers Green residents.
Birds on Back Common
You are very welcome to join a group on three Sunday mornings from 07:00 to 09:00 to carry out the ‘official’ census. The dates are April 16th, May 14th and June 11th. We will start from the Tylers Green Village Hall and, under the leadership of Bill Sadler and two other experts, we will follow the tracks and paths around Back Common and keep notes on what we find. The results will be recorded and used to update an information board in the Village Hall. You don’t need to be an expert at identifying birds to join us, but you may need to set your alarm clock!
The Village Care Open Gardens event will take place on Sunday 11th June from 1.30 – 5.30pm. Tickets at £4 for adults and £2 for over-twelves are on sale at the Village Hall, and teas (not included) are at Mary Coker’s and in the Sanctuary.
If you live in or close to Penn or Tylers Green, would you be willing to lend a hand with organising 2017’s event? We would love a few more people to help. It will not be a big commitment, but it is a very worthwhile cause and it is a great way to meet more people in the village. So please contact Phil (817614) or Geoff (813287).
