Volunteers needed

There are a number of ways in which you can help various organisations in Penn & Tylers Green.

Scouts

P&TG Scout Group are seeking additional adult volunteers to help run Beaver, Cub and Scout meetings. No particular skills are required, just a sense of fun and a willingness to help our members. For more information, please contact Adrian Cooper on 01494 816505 or adrian_cooper@btinternet.com.

Website

Could you help with this website on an ad hoc or more regular basis? We mainly need help on two fronts:

First and foremost, we need your contributions – articles, photographs of the villages and events (both past and present), and details of events going on around the villages. Send these by email to web@pennandtylersgreen.org.uk. You don’t have to be a professional journalist or celebrated essayist to contribute, a few words and/or pictures are enough.  Having said that, if you don’t have time or don’t want to write something yourself but you hear of something happening in the villages that may be of interest to others or think we should cover a particular topic, let us know and we’ll do our best to put something together on the topic or event.

Secondly, we could do with some help with some slightly more technical tasks. This work may involve uploading articles and events to the website, coordinating our online calendar and directory, and perhaps getting involved in other related tasks. You don’t need to have any experience as we’ll give you all the training you need. All you need is a relatively up-to-date computer and loads of enthusiasm. This work can be split up into manageable chunks which means that the work can fit in around your other commitments and you can commit to as much or as little as you are able to.  If you’re interested or would like more information please email Michelle Kirkland at info@pennandtylersgreen.org.uk.

Residents Society

P&TG Residents Society are looking to recruit a volunteer who could spare 2-3 hours per week to assist the Company secretary with administration, secretrarial and organisational tasks. For an informal and without obligation chat, please contact Brian Bennett on 01494 814355.

Neighbourhood Action Group

Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs) deal with key issues in a community and comprise members of the local community and the police. The local NAG covers Tylers Green, Loudwater, Flackwell Heath and Hazlemere. This area is the responsibility of the Hazlemere & Chepping Wycombe Neighbourhood Police Team, based at the Hazlemere crossroads Police Office.

The current priorities of the NAG are Anti Social Behaviour and Speeding / Road Safety. The group meets every six weeks at William Ramsay School, Hazlemere. They are looking for new members, particularly from the following groups and occupations:

• youth Services;
• housing managers;
• environmental officers;
• headteachers;
• local business community members;
• licensees;
• residents associations; and
• local residents and young people aged between 14 and 16 years old.

They would also like to appoint a minutes secretary.

Please contact the chairman, David Onslow, on 01628 819108 if you are interested in joining or are interested in the applying for the minutes secretary position.
