Penn and Tylers Green Curry Club

curry_club1The P&TG Curry Club was started in November 2007 by Stewart Stone and Raza Rizvi as a fun way for people in the village to get to know each other better over some fine food. We meet towards the end of each month, and visit a number of different local restaurants. Whilst we have some regular favourite haunts, we are always on the look-out for new venues. Up to 40 people at a time come along.

All the restaurants that we use agree in advance to a special format and price for the evening (currently £18.50), whereby they provide poppadoms and mixed starters, then everyone can choose whatever they like from the full menu, including a main dish, rice, bread and vegetable dishes . This is a significant saving on normal prices and we encourage people to try new dishes and share them around. To make life easier for the restaurant we operate a pay as you go cash bar, leaving only the fixed price food bill at the end.

Our restaurants are happy to accommodate us, as they frequently report that they get a lot of repeat business from those who had not dined with them previously. For those who want something a little different, we have now started doing additional trips to restaurants further afield to supplement our monthly events, and plan some 'special' events in the year ahead. We've also had some fun 'Elvis' evenings in the past.
