Jubilee celebrations

It was more than two years ago when we first discussed the idea of celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee here in Penn and Tylers Green. Since then, a small team has been working tirelessly to organise the programme of events detailed here. We sincerely hope you will join in the fun along with your family and friends to celebrate this once in a lifetime occasion.

BDH

We have tried to create a programme to appeal to all ages: one which reflects and celebrates the traditions and history of our village, but brings it up to date. All the events are free, so please get involved and enjoy yourselves. Any profits we do generate through the raffle, bar takings etc will be donated to two local charities - Penn School and the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home.

If you would like more information about any of the events, or to get involved, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Let's make it a village celebration we will all remember.

Big Lunch - Sunday

Bring your lunch, picnic blanket, friends and family (plus gazebo if it's wet) and come to the Common on Sunday 3 June for fun for all ages. There's a whole host of Jubilee themed events taking place from noon to 4pm, and a bar selling alcoholic and soft drinks to get us all in the spirit.

There will be plenty of fun and activities to keep the whole family amused, competitions to enter and prizes to be won including the Right Royal Cupcake competition, Crown-making, fancy dress and the Great Big Obsta...

Church Service - Sunday

The official Queen’s Jubilee National Service of Celebration will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral Tuesday 5th June. This event will focus the Nation’s thoughts, not just on The Queen’s years on the throne of this country, but how her faith has been central to her life and role.

In our community here we have the opportunity to celebrate, in a more modest fashion, the same thing on the Common in Tylers Green on Sunday 3rd June at 4.30pm. Her Majesty’s deep and abiding faith has shone through her life as our mon-arch so what better way could there be of celebrating The Queen’s 6...

Penn School is a non-maintained special school for 11-19 year old students with communication difficulties located in the heart of the village. The school specialises in supporting children with communication difficulties associated with speech and language, Autistic Spectrum disorders and hearing impairment who may have additional physical or learning problems.

The Friends of Penn School is a Charitable Association (charity number 1089483), formed in 1999 to support the school and to raise funds and awareness within the community. In recent years, the Friends have funded many major projects including the complete refurbishment of Science & Food Technology Rooms, Smartboards in every classroom, Laptops for students as well as funding for specific educational needs and leisure time activities for boarders.

Iain Rennie Hospice at Home (IRHH) gives patients with life-limiting illness the choice to be cared for in their own home. IRHH provides 24/7 call-out specialist nursing care as well as support for family members from diagnosis to bereavement and beyond. The charity operates in the Chilterns, and needs to raise £6 million annually to meet demand for their services, all of which are offered completely free of charge.  They rely heavily on public support to fund nearly 90% of their services.

IRHH is part of Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care, Registered Charity no. 1140386.
