PLEASE WARN ANYONE YOU THINK MIGHT BENEFIT FROM THE FOLLOWING INFO RECEIVED FROM THAMES VALLEY POLICE
Thames Valley Police would like to make you aware of a Courier Fraud which took place on Monday 16th January 2017 in Tyler End Penn
The elderly aggrieved received a call on her landline from a male claiming to be a “DC Mason” asking if she had purchased a washing machine for £300.
When the aggrieved said no he told her he was from the Fraud Office and that the bank had notified them of this fraudulent transaction. He put her onto another male who said he was “Inspector Lynch” and he asked the aggrieved to withdraw £5000 from her bank so they could check the serial numbers – the aggrieved did this and told them the numbers, a third male who claimed to be “Sergeant Warren” told her the notes were fraudulent .
At 18.00hrs a white male turned up at the aggrieved’s home address and collected the cash.
We would like to warn other elderly people in the area to be alert for these types of phone call; hang up, dial 1471 to get the number who called them and contact the police.
It would also be advisable for people to get their phone numbers removed from the directory which is how we believe they are being targeted.
