Councils
Buckinghamshire has a three-tier local government organisation in this area: County, District and Parish. Tylers Green lies within Wycombe District Council and Chepping Wycombe Parish Council. Penn lies within Chiltern District Council and Penn Parish Council.

Council news
Here's an update on the latest news for Penn and Tylers Green about projects and initiatives in your local area which includes the parishes of Penn, Chepping Wycombe and Hazlemere.
Many people have great ideas about how they could make their neighbourhood a better place to live, but sometimes red tape, rules and regulations can stop people putting good ideas into action. Some of these barriers are real and some are myths, but all are frustrating, resulting in local people missing out. The Locality Services Team is here to help get things done, so if you have a barrier you want to 'bust' then please email Madeleine Howe at This email address is being protected from spambots. We are continuing to promote the development of Local Community Contingency Plans, so that communities are better prepared for “out-of-the-normal” events such as heavy snow. If you are interested in being part of this work and would like a copy of our simple toolkit, then please get in touch.
There are plenty of council consultations you can take part in – to take a look visit www.buckscc.gov.uk/haveyoursay or take a look at our new e-petitions scheme. An ePetition is one way you can influence local decision making – anyone who lives, works or studies in Buckinghamshire can create an ePetition on our website, or electronically ‘sign’ an ePetition. We set a minimum requirement of 20 signatures for it to be treated as a petition. A petition can trigger debate and potentially bring about change – full details can be found at http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/moderngov/mgepetitionlistdisplay.aspx?
The Chepping Wye Valley Local Community Partnership (LCP) has a number of budgets to spend in the local area. Recent decisions include funding for two film projects with young people looking at issues around substance abuse. All are welcome to attend and take part in LCP meetings; the next one is 7pm 15th June at The Pavilion, Church Road, Little Marlow. Keep up to date via http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/moderngov/mgCommitteeDetails.aspx?ID=622
Penn is part of the Amersham Local Area Forum (LAF) and this year members have funded diversionary youth activities in identified “hotspots” for anti-social behaviour. The next Amersham LAF meeting is on 6th April at Chiltern District Council offices. Visit: http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/moderngov/ieListMeetings.aspx?CommitteeId=641 for details.
The County Council is consulting on the future of the Youth Service. The service needs to reduce costs by £1.6million over three years and so cannot continue to do everything they do now. The proposal is for a targeted youth service and three retained youth centres, but it will not be possible to maintain the staffing or funding for other youth centres. This means that Hazlemere Youth Centre, Chiltern Youth Centre in Amersham and the Amersham 61 Club are seeking community partnership solutions.
