Latest from Hazlemere Neighbourhood Police Team (HNPT)

Making Contact with the Police
In the last few weeks the HNPT have encountered a number of angry members of the public who have complained about the lack of police presence and/or activity in the area where they live. When the person has been spoken to by a member of the HNPT it transpires that anti social behaviour and/or minor crimes have been occurring in the area, but for one reason or another this information has not been reported to the police. The assumption is that the police already know about it or that someone else will probably make contact regarding the problem. This is not always the case.

Please do not be afraid to report issues that are affecting your community to the police. What you may deem to be a trivial matter, maybe the missing piece of information that provides the link to solving a crime/issue.

The new police national non emergency and general enquiry number is 101. This number was created to make life easier for the public to contact the police.

When you call 101, please note that your call will be answered by a Police Enquiry Centre (which are based in Milton Keynes, Kidlington and Windsor) operator, and not by a local police officer or member of police staff. So please bear with the operator, who will ask you a number of questions regarding the information that you want to report to the police. This is so that the details of your call are correctly documented; the location of the crime/incident is correct, etc.

Burglary & Auto Crime

In the previous newsletter the police reported that Hazlemere & Tylers Green have suffered a number of burglaries and thefts from vehicles. The police suspected that the person/s responsible were using Kingswood woods to get to and from the area, undetected.

On the 20/12/2012 a male was arrested, after being located near Kingswood woods, and was later charged with a burglary that occurred in Hazlemere. This male is currently in prison awaiting his court appearance.

On the 31/12/2011 a burglary occurred on Amersham Road, Hazlemere. Two males have been arrested in connection with this offence and are currently on police bail whilst the investigation progresses.

Despite these arrests, burglaries and vehicle crime are still continuing in the area. Please be vigilant during this unsettling time and take preventative measures to try and prevent your home or vehicle being targeted.

To try and raise awareness of the above problem the HNPT have been distributing crime prevention (CP) literature and Neighbourhood Watch (NW) packs to a larger area. If crime, therefore, occurs at a certain location then 20-30 CP & NW packs are delivered to the houses that surround the crime location. This is so a larger number of people become aware of the recent crime that occurred and hopefully make local residents more vigilant.

Parking Notices

A member of the public, who the HNPT suspects lives in the Coppice Farm Road area, Tylers Green recently took it upon themselves to place parking notices on number cars which were parked in the road. The notices purported to be officially sanctioned by Thames Valley Police. These notices are nothing to do with the police.

Tylers Green

On the 16/12/2011 a van travelling along New Road, Tylers Green, failed to stop at the junction of Hazlemere Road & Elm Road, and struck a school bus. The driver of the van was reported for careless driving and 2 young females suffered minor injuries.
