Tylers Green Middle School - Winter 2011/12

We are the Champions! Beating off tough competition throughout the season TGMS became the Year 6 County Football Champions. In the first round TGMS closely fought matches against Gateway and St Edwards. This led to a tense semi final against Farnham Common.

Then the toughest game of all: the final, playing Great Kingshill. What a cliffhanger this turned out to be...no goals at fulltime....still no goals in extra time. Parents couldn't bear to watch when it came down to a nail-biting penalty shoot out. Both teams were still evenly matched until goalkeeper Joshua Bateman made a spectacular save, which clinched victory for TGMS.

Teacher and coach Matthew Trice said, "I am extremely proud of the way the boys played and hope they realise they could go all the way in the competition! It was great to see two Wycombe schools in the county finals- this says a lot about the standard of football in this area."

TGMS will now have to wait until March for the next round of the competition, where they will play other schools from across the South East of England in the Finals, to be held in Greenwich. We wish them all good luck.

Success in Science: another win for TGMS, this time in the Year 5 South Bucks Science Quiz, which the school hosted. TGMS entered two teams of four and Team 2 won. The team each received a winner's medal and a winner’s shield which now takes pride of place in the school's trophy cabinet. They go into the next round competing against schools from London and the Home Counties. We wish them luck too!
